As of August 1, 2011 all qualifying projects submitted to the Building Division will have to comply with the Mountain View Green Building Code. July 1, 2011
As of July 1, 2011 carbon monoxide devices must be installed in all single family dwellings.  All other dwelling units must have carbon monoxide devices installed by July 1, 2013.  For specific guidelines such as which devices meet California's standards please see our handout: Carbon Monoxide Devices Save Lives.

The City is currently drafting green building requirements for private development, known as the Mountain View Green Building Code (MVGBC). For updates please visit our website dedicated to the new MVGBC.

The 2010 California Green Building Standards Code referred to as CALGreen goes into effect in January 2011. CALGreen is the first-in-the-nation statewide mandatory green building code."

Effective January 1, 2011

As of January 1, 2011 there will be the new 2010 California Building Codes in effect for any project submitted after that date. You can check http://www.bsc.ca.gov/ to obtain your copies of the new codes.


Effective August 10, 2010

PEX Bulletin 10-01 - State PEX Exclusion Removed (PDF)
On August 16, 2010, the California Building Standards Commission certified the Final Environmental Impact Report and approved regulations allowing the use of PEX tubing. The Approved Final Express Terms document represents the final language that will be published into the 2007 California Plumbing Code and the 2010 California Plumbing Code (Effective Jan. 1, 2011) with the strikeout and underlining removed for clarity.

Title 24, Part 6, California Energy Code (2008 Edition) went into effect January 1, 2010, and supersede the 2005 Standards. Projects that apply for a building permit on or after this date must comply with the 2008 Standards. You can download the new 2008 California Energy Code requirements at the California Energy Commission web site.
