As of July 1, 2011 carbon monoxide devices must be installed in all single family dwellings. All other dwelling units must have carbon monoxide devices installed by July 1, 2013. For specific guidelines such as which devices meet California's standards please see our handout: Carbon Monoxide Devices Save Lives.

On August 16, 2010, the California Building Standards Commission certified the Final Environmental Impact Report and approved regulations allowing the use of PEX tubing. The Approved Final Express Terms document represents the final language that will be published into the 2007 California Plumbing Code and the 2010 California Plumbing Code (Effective Jan. 1, 2011) with the strikeout and underlining removed for clarity.
Title 24, Part 6, California Energy Code (2008 Edition) went into effect January 1, 2010, and supersede the 2005 Standards. Projects that apply for a building permit on or after this date must comply with the 2008 Standards. You can download the new
