Challenge Team - Mountain View - Los Altos - Los Altos Hills
Our Challenge Team is a community-based, non-profit partner of students, school districts, police departments, community organizations, parent groups and health service groups collaborating to prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related problems in our community.
             
D.A.R.E. – Drug Abuse Resistance Education
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. The City of Mountain View is involved with D.A.R.E. in partnership with the MVPD’s School Resource Officers.


Dreams and Futures
Dreams and Futures was developed as a gang prevention program, award-winning Dreams & Futures is like summer day camp, emphasizing teamwork, self-esteem, decision making and standing strong against drugs, alcohol and gangs. The program is designed for 4th through 7th grade children at a high risk of getting involved in gangs, drugs and/or alcohol use.

MVPD School Resource Officers (SROs) are responsible for reducing delinquent behavior, and establishing communication between students and police. By building a rapport with school-aged children, SROs promote trust in law enforcement and a positive view of the law and its agents.

Fresh Lifelines for Youth helps teens in trouble learn to make healthy decisions. The organization provides at-risk and disadvantaged youth with vital information regarding the decisions they make in their lives. We provide well-trained mentors who listen. And FLY gives its graduates the opportunity to advance to a leadership program where they use their knowledge and skills to give back to their communities.

Friends for Youth, Inc.
Founded in 1979, Friends for Youth's Mentoring Services program has had success far beyond the national average in helping young people stay out of trouble. Over 1,650 youth have been in our program with over 88% maintaining their commitment to their mentoring relationship. Studies have consistently shown that youth in our program stay in school, improve their school performance, are more motivated, and rarely have future involvement with the Juvenile Justice System.

Partners For New Generations (PNG) is an outreach program to recruit volunteers to help young people. PNG coordinates the volunteers with Los Altos and Mountain View schools, and to be child advocates in Silicon Valley.
